Welcome to Open Doors Somerset

We are a group of volunteers trying to create a community hub in the heart of Crewkerne.

It would be a warm welcoming space open to anyone, hosting and offering a wide range of activities.

We are talking to other groups in the town and the surrounding area, and are working with them to create this exciting new project.

There are existing community spaces in the town and we want this new space to work alongside them, complementing and supporting what they do.
Open Doors is run by Crewkerne Community Kitchen CIC which has distributed surplus food in the town since July 2020
We now have a fridge and pantry based at the George Reynolds Centre TA18 8DA and open Mondays 11-noon, Tuesdays 11.30-12.30 and Thursdays 9.30-11am.
We also run the weekly Chop & Chat group – it prepares a delicious healthy good value meal from scratch every Friday at the Speedwell Hall TA18 7HY, from 11-2pm.

Our Supporters

Our supporters allow us to do what we do within Crewkerne and the surrounding areas.

From providing us with surplus food for the Community Fridge, to support and guidance, collaborating on projects and events, Open Doors Somerset is made possible by many.

If you would like to help support us in some way, please get in at info@opendoorssomerset.org.uk

Open Doors Here to support the Community

We are proud to have the active support of among others Crewkerne Town Council, Crewkerne Rotary, Carousel Crewkerne, Community Action Groups Somerset, Ark at Egwood, FareShare and Neighbourly.

In April we launched a crowdfunding campaign to pay for a valuation of the old NatWest Bank in Market St.  This raised £1,600 – but the owner has a different view on how much the building is worth.  We are exploring other options for finding a permanent or temporary home.

If you would like to get involved or have any ideas please contact us – email info@opendoorssomerset.org.uk

Think it (the Community Fridge) is just brilliant – makes a huge difference financially and makes a great to see it not going to waste.
I really appreciate all the hard work the volunteers put in as I know how much work it is.
